First Lego League's Theme for 2017-2018 School Year has Been Announced
Quotes from the students:
PF-Robotics this year went well everyone got along well, nobody was crying about our negative ten point round.
NA-Everything I expected was how it was. People should have focused more on getting the programs ready for competition.
AH-We could have been more careful programming our robots. I know that now after going to competition.
AW-I think that it went really well, but we could have worked a little more on some of the programs. I think we should have been about the fire house because we always crashed into it.
LM-We could have checked over the map again to make sure that the robot board was in the right places.
EB-We could have been a little more careful by taking our time to set up the robot program.
JC-First thing if you made a mistake it is OK, you lose and if you win you get a lot of points and a trophy.
GW-I liked how people went to the competition but if we didn't win we should still be happy.
EF-We need to share the board equally during practice AND during competition practice.
LO-The first one is I think we should have been practicing more before the tournament and I think a lot of the other teams they practiced a couple times a week.
DV-I like it that there was Mondays and Wednesday Teams.

Game Missions
The time has come to get more refined in programming our ev3 robots. Students have been playing with programing our robots to go in circles, straight lines, how to go slow, and how to make annoying sounds. View the videos below to see what missions students will need to program our robots to do.

Project Wild September 8, 15, 22, 29 and October 6The reviews to our class are in:
I liked the ravine adventure and collecting different nature items. I like the geo caching and walking through a neighborhood to find clues. I would like to try using technology to do this with a GPS. I liked going to Wild Birds to get birdseed and making mud. I wish there were MORE adventures. Do you love nature? What about dirt? Did you know there are natural spaces within walking distance of Indian Trail? Come to explore, enjoy nature, and learn to be a little bit wild. All participants are expected to get their hands and their clothing dirty. Each project wild meeting will include nature based activities, and explorations will be made through and about the wild parts of Highland Park. We will play games that reinforce and reconnect us to the natural world. Week One: 1. A Visit to Wild Birds Unlimited 2. Create a natural bird feeder & learn about local birds 3. Can you name this bird by its call? 4. 45 minutes of bird sound 5. Newsletter emailed home Week Two: Moraine Ravine walk and Native Animals and Plants Week Three: Moraine Beach- Natural Artists, Keep on Tracking Week Four: Central Park, map skills, looking for landmarks, Introduction to Geo-caching Week Five: Rock cycle, soil samples and mud production |
