When we talk about the word grim, we now think of dark, sad, maybe deadly. The word grim comes from two brothers who wrote down the fantastical stories of the German people between 1812 and 1857. Their names were Jacob and Willhelm Grimm.
Now fast forward to the years 2010-2013, Adam Gidwitz retells the stories of the brothers Grimm in his trilogy of books: A Tale Dark and Grimm, In a Glass Grimmly, and The Grimm Conclusion. Adam created a vision of fairy tales that entertained, shocked and grossed out our third to fifth grade students. Mr. Gidwitz also visited other 112 schools.
