New Book Week in the Indian Trail Library
October Mood Stories and Getting in the Swing of Library
Some books are mysterious. Some books are sneaky. Some books beg to be read over and over. I probably shared these stories with 1st graders last year (when they were Kindergarteners), but the enjoyment and engagement of this year's read aloud was not diminished. Knock, Knock by Jan Wahl is the story or a lonely little Scottish witch. She wishes for company, the way company arrives in bits and pieces is mysterious and a little worrisome. Matilda and Hans by Yokoco finds a very good cat named Matilda and a very naughty cat, Hans, who seem to be exact opposites. Hans unlocks and releases all the animals from their cages at the zoo one evening. He becomes a wanted criminal. Matilda know just where Hans will strike next and receives the reward.
First Grade students visit the library once a week as a class to select two new books. If books are forgotten at home, students may place books on hold for a few days until their missing books are returned.
